Image anatomy of internal capsule in hunman brain
Objective To study the anatomy characteristics of the internal capsule in the normal adults of Han nationality. Methods One thousand (2000 cerebral hemispheres) healthy Chinese Han adults were divided into 18-30,31-40,41-50,51-60,61-80 years old age groups, 100 males and 100 females per group.All the subjects underwent 1.5T MR scans using T1 weighted three-dimensional magnetization prepared rapid acquisition gradient echo sequence,and using 3D analysis software (Midobl) manual lays out the various anatomical value, the software automatically calculates its anatomical parameter values.
Results 1. The anteroposterior diameters of left and right anterior limbs were (16.93±1.67) mm and (16.60±1.72) mm,left and right posterior limbs were (28.42±1.92) mm and (27.68±1.81) mm. 2. The lateral dimensions of left and right anterior limb were (11.25±1.52) mm and (11.10±1.53) mm and that of the left and right posterior limb were (20.10±2.33) mm and (19.44±2.17) mm. 3. The standard axial plane, the angle between the anterior limb and posterior limb of left and right internal capsule respectively were (125.66±2.38)°, (126.01±34.11)°. Conclusion High-resolution MRI can provide more precise images of the internal capsule and measurement data. This study provides reference ranges of the internal capsule in normal adults of Chinese Han.
